1)     Write an op-ed article for a newspaper.

a.     Limit your article to 750 words.

b.    Make a single point – “Life without Parole is a death penalty and needs to be abolished”

c.     Put your main point at the top of the page

d.     Tell readers why they should care, why they should read your article

i.      Example – Save taxpayers money, help reform the disastrous prison systems, create opportunity for prisoners to rehabilitate and give back to the community

e.     Remember an op-ed is your opinion not a news story

2)   Write letters to the Editors of National Newspapers and Magazines

a.     Most publications list who to send your letter to and how many words can be included

b.    Reference recent coverage (web, newspaper, TV) as your direct response.

c.     Send to multiple outlets to assure your letter gets published.

3)   Take out an ad or billboard

4)   Write a petition or sign one of our preformatted petitions (will be up soon). Send to Governors, Senators, Congress and the President.

Let’s all pitch in and become ONE in the fight against Life Without Parole sentencing for marijuana smuggling.

  1. Could you please tell me if Randy has a petition pending before the Pardon Attorney’s office? Also, does he have a lawyer helping him and does he (or someone) have all of his pertinent paperwork – PSR, sentencing transcript, etc.

    Thanks so much. We share the belief that no nonviolent offenders should be spending the rest of their lives in prison.

      Randy has not yet submitted his Pardon papers, he has them but is struggling with completion. He will be in touch with you Julie regarding other questions.
